Cork University Hospital, part of Ireland’s Health Service Executive (HSE), is seeking 5 Senior Dietitians to join our prestigious Specialty Care Areas. About the Role
As a Senior Dietitian in Specialty Care Areas, you will provide expert nutritional assessment, intervention, and management for complex patient cases across specialized clinical departments. You’ll work as part of multidisciplinary teams delivering cutting-edge patient care while contributing to clinical excellence and professional development within Cork University Hospital’s dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients in specialty care areas including critical care, oncology, cardiology, and surgical specialties
- Develop and implement evidence-based nutrition care plans for complex medical conditions requiring specialized dietary interventions
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Provide specialized nutrition support including enteral and parenteral nutrition management for critically ill patients
- Lead nutrition education programs for patients, families, and healthcare staff within specialty care settings
- Supervise and mentor junior dietetic staff and students during clinical placements in specialty areas
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research projects within specialty care departments
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Dietetics or Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution
- Registration with the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) and eligibility for CORU registration
- Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience in clinical dietetics, with proven experience in specialty care areas
- Advanced knowledge of clinical nutrition for complex medical conditions including critical care, oncology, and surgical nutrition
- Strong communication skills with ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary specialty care teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical nutrition or specialized area (Critical Care Nutrition, Oncology Nutrition, etc.)
- Experience with nutrition support teams and specialized feeding techniques including parenteral nutrition
- Previous experience in a teaching hospital environment or with student supervision
- Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement methodologies and audit processes
