The Health Service Executive (HSE) South West is recruiting a Clinical Midwife Specialist (Ultrasound) for Cork University Maternity Hospital. This permanent, whole-time position offers a key opportunity to advance clinical practice in obstetric ultrasound while supporting high-quality maternal care across the South West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist ultrasound services in line with national maternity care standards.
- Support the development and implementation of evidence-based practice in obstetric scanning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
- Contribute to education and mentorship of midwifery and medical colleagues.
- Participate in research, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Postgraduate qualification in Obstetric Ultrasound (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years post-registration midwifery experience, with at least 2 years in the specialist area.
- Strong clinical leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and best practice.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Grade: Clinical Midwife Specialist (Code 2313)
Pay scale (effective 1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 per annum (11 points, incl. LSI)
Contract type: Permanent, wholetime
