Galway University Hospitals is recruiting a Domestic Porter to join its General Support team in Galway. This permanent whole-time role supports critical patient, clinical, and facility operations across a 24/7 service.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Provide safe and efficient porter services throughout the hospital
• Transport patients, equipment, clinical supplies, and specimens as required
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of assigned areas
• Support waste management, linen distribution, and general logistics
• Assist clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure smooth daily operations
• Deliver a high-standard, patient-focused support service at all times
• Work flexibly across shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, in line with service needs
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in a hospital, healthcare, or facilities support environment desirable
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work in a busy, physically demanding role
• Understanding of health & safety, infection prevention, and manual handling best practice
• Ability to work 24/7 roster patterns as required
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary: HSE Porter Grade 4197
• €35,547–€43,150 per annum (as of 1 August 2025, 9-point scale)
• Permanent, whole-time contract
• 24/7 roster – flexibility required
