Galway University Hospital is seeking a Quality and Patient Safety Perioperative Coordinator at Grade VII level. This role supports safe, high-quality perioperative care through strong governance, learning from incidents, and continuous improvement.
Table of Contents
You will work closely with clinical and management teams to strengthen patient safety systems across perioperative services.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives within perioperative services
• Support incident, complaint, and risk management processes
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and HSE requirements
• Analyse trends and data to support learning and service improvement
• Develop and deliver relevant training and education programmes
• Support change initiatives in a complex healthcare setting
• Work collaboratively with clinical, management, and multidisciplinary teams
• Provide supervision and management support as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
Essential
• Proven experience in quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety
• Experience managing incidents and complaints within regulatory frameworks
• Experience leading change in a health-related organisation
• Experience delivering training or education programmes
• Relevant supervisory or management experience
Desirable
• Experience in perioperative or acute hospital services
• Knowledge of national patient safety standards and governance structures

• Salary: In line with HSE Grade VII salary scale
• Contract: Permanent whole-time
