University Hospital Waterford is seeking a dedicated Infectious Disease Registrar to join its multidisciplinary medical team. This role offers valuable specialist experience within an acute hospital setting while contributing directly to patient care, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control initiatives across the hospital.


Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care to patients with infectious diseases
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient infectious disease services
• Support antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention programmes
• Contribute to ward rounds, case reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings
• Supervise and support junior medical staff as appropriate
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Participate in on-call and rota commitments in line with service needs


Required Skills & Qualifications

• Registration on the Irish Medical Council (IMC) Register
• Minimum of two years post-internship clinical experience
• Experience or demonstrated interest in infectious diseases or general medicine
• Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland


Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

• Salary in line with HSE Registrar (1538) salary scale, starting from approximately €68,891 per annum (subject to point of entry)
• Additional on-call and premium payments as applicable
• Fixed-term, wholetime contract

Salary scales are governed by national HSE pay agreements and public service pay policy
