University Hospital Waterford is seeking a Medicine for the Elderly Registrar to join its multidisciplinary medical team. This fixed-term, whole-time role offers valuable experience in geriatric medicine within a major acute teaching hospital in the South East. The post is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide high-quality medical care to older patients under consultant supervision
• Participate in assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of complex geriatric cases
• Contribute to ward rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, and discharge planning
• Supervise and support junior medical staff as required
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with HSE policies
• Participate in on-call and rostered duties in line with service needs
• Engage in audit, teaching, and continuous professional development
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist or General Division of the Irish Medical Council
• Previous experience at Registrar level or equivalent in Medicine or Geriatrics
• Demonstrated competence in acute and chronic medical care of older adults
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• Desirable: prior experience in Medicine for the Elderly services
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Registrar – Medicine (1530)
• Salary in line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (effective 1 August 2025) – Registrar scale applies
• Fixed Term, Whole-Time contract
