University Hospital Waterford is seeking an experienced Grade VI Medical Manpower Officer to join its Medical Manpower Department. This is a permanent wholetime internal appointment supporting the effective management, planning, and governance of medical staffing within a major acute hospital setting.
The role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient medical workforce operations across the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate medical manpower processes in line with HSE policies
• Support workforce planning, rota management, and staffing compliance
• Liaise with consultants, NCHDs, HR, and senior management
• Monitor contractual, WRC, and regulatory requirements
• Prepare reports, workforce data, and performance metrics
• Contribute to service planning and operational decision-making
• Ensure best practice in governance and documentation
• Support change initiatives and service developments
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Eligibility restricted to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies (WRC Agreement 161867)
• Relevant third-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
• Significant administrative or management experience, ideally within healthcare
• Strong knowledge of medical staffing structures and workforce processes
• Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills
• High level of IT proficiency and reporting capability
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary: In line with HSE Grade VI (0574) consolidated pay scale effective 1 August 2025
• Contract: Permanent Wholetime
