An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join services in County Louth within the HSE Dublin and North East region. This permanent, whole-time consultant post offers the chance to provide expert, compassionate care while contributing to service development and clinical leadership in specialist palliative medicine.

This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is ideal for a consultant seeking long-term impact, professional autonomy, and regional clinical influence.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver consultant-level specialist palliative medicine care to patients and families
• Provide clinical leadership within multidisciplinary palliative care teams
• Contribute to inpatient and community-based palliative services
• Support education, training, and supervision of junior medical staff
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Engage in service planning and development at hospital and regional level
• Collaborate with acute, community, and voluntary care partners
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Registration on the Specialist Register of the Irish Medical Council in Palliative Medicine
• Extensive postgraduate experience in specialist palliative care
• Demonstrated consultant-level clinical competence
• Strong leadership, communication, and team-working skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland at consultant grade
