An excellent opportunity is available for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Services team at Thomastown Residential Care Centre, Kilkenny. This permanent whole-time role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence-based speech and language therapy to adult and older person service users within a residential care setting.
The post offers the chance to work within a multidisciplinary team while contributing specialist clinical expertise, particularly in dysphagia management, across designated care group areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive speech and language therapy assessments and interventions for adult and older person clients
• Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and management in line with IASLT standards
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team planning and clinical decision-making
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with HSE policies
• Support and advise care staff and families on communication and swallowing strategies
• Participate in service development, audit, and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Supervise and support junior staff or students where appropriate
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Qualification as a Speech and Language Therapist recognised by CORU
• Registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist
• Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-qualification experience with adult clients
• Recognised dysphagia qualification or equivalent in line with IASLT (2007) standards
• High level of clinical knowledge and commitment to evidence-based practice
• Strong communication, organisational, and teamwork skills
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Grade: Social Care Manager 3 (Code 3373)
• Salary: In line with HSE Consolidated Salary Scales (August 2025)
