University Hospital Waterford is seeking an experienced Assistant Risk Manager (Grade VI) to support the development and delivery of effective risk management, governance, and patient safety systems across the hospital. This role plays a critical part in strengthening organisational assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

A panel may be formed from this competition to fill permanent and specified purpose vacancies, on a full-time or part-time basis, as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Risk Manager in implementing and monitoring the hospital risk management framework
• Coordinate incident reporting, risk registers, and follow-up actions
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and governance controls
• Analyse risk trends and prepare reports for senior management and committees
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
• Promote a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement
• Engage with clinical and non-clinical teams on risk-related matters

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in the Irish public health service
• Current employment within the HSE, TUSLA, a Section 38 agency, or a statutory health agency
• Experience in risk management, governance, audit, or a related administrative/management role
• Strong analytical, reporting, and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Knowledge of healthcare governance and regulatory requirements is desirable

• Salary in line with HSE Grade VI (0574) consolidated pay scale, as approved under national public service pay agreements
