Job Overview

University Hospital Limerick is seeking a Registrar in Anaesthesia to join its July 2026 NCHD rotation. This is a demanding and rewarding post within a busy tertiary teaching hospital, offering excellent exposure to acute and elective anaesthesia services and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective anaesthetic care across theatre and acute settings
• Participate in on-call rotas in line with NCHD requirements
• Work collaboratively with Consultants, SHOs, nursing and theatre staff
• Support perioperative assessment and post-anaesthetic care
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and handovers
• Adhere to HSE clinical governance, patient safety and quality standards
• Engage in audit, teaching and continuous professional development

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Active Irish Medical Council (IMC) registration (number must be stated clearly on application)
• Registration must be fully active (applications with inactive or pending IMC status will not be accepted)
• Proven experience relevant to Anaesthesia at Registrar level
• Membership examinations are desirable
• OET/IELTS certification where applicable
• Availability to commence duty on 13 July 2026 in line with national rotation

• Salary in line with HSE Registrar (NCHD) payscales as per Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 August 2025
