University Hospital Limerick is seeking a Registrar in Ophthalmology to commence in July 2026. This role offers hands-on clinical exposure within a busy acute hospital environment, supporting consultant-led ophthalmic services across the Mid West region.
Table of Contents
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality ophthalmology care under consultant supervision
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency ophthalmic services
• Contribute to on-call and rota commitments as required
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Support teaching and training of junior medical staff
• Engage in audit, quality improvement, and service development activities
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC)
• Experience at Registrar level or equivalent in Ophthalmology
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
• Salary in line with HSE Registrar (1538) consolidated pay scales (from €68,891 per annum, point dependent)
