Job Overview
PFH Technology Group is seeking an experienced IT Field Engineer in Sligo to support customer IT infrastructure across the region. This field-based EUC (End User Computing) role involves resolving technical issues, maintaining system performance, and ensuring business continuity for a diverse customer base.
This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional with strong Windows, Active Directory, and customer-facing support experience who enjoys working on-site and delivering high-quality technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritise and respond to helpdesk calls logged on the support system, including travel to customer sites.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalating to third parties where required.
- Provide system administration support using Active Directory.
- Install and configure computer hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and applications.
- Set up and manage shared folders and file permissions.
- Liaise with third-party vendors for software and hardware installations.
- Perform data transfers and migrations.
- Support managed print devices, including vendor coordination and IP configuration.
- Access consoles to deploy solutions such as content encryption.
- Document solutions and maintain accurate system records.
- Follow service desk processes, escalation procedures, and governance policies.
- Create and update internal records, databases, and reports as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Full clean driver’s licence (essential).
- Experience in an IT hardware support environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 installations.
- Experience with Active Directory administration.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to support users adapting to new technologies.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite and report writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and project phases.
- Third-level IT qualification (desirable).
- Microsoft certifications (advantageous).
- Knowledge of IT governance and security policies (desirable).
