Job Overview
University Hospital Waterford is seeking a highly skilled Senior Physicist to join its multidisciplinary healthcare team. This is a senior-level role offering the opportunity to contribute to advanced clinical services, patient safety, and innovation in medical physics. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services within a leading HSE facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert medical physics support across clinical services including radiology, radiation protection, and related areas
- Ensure compliance with national and international safety and quality standards
- Lead and support the development of clinical protocols and procedures
- Supervise and mentor junior physics staff and trainees
- Participate in equipment commissioning, calibration, and quality assurance programmes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, radiographers, and engineers
- Contribute to research, audit, and continuous service improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Medical Physics or a related discipline
- Extensive experience in a clinical physics environment
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations and best practices
- Eligibility for registration with relevant professional bodies
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary Scale: €78,008 – €108,039 (including Long Service Increments)
Employment Type: Permanent Wholetime
