Job Overview

As a Staff Nurse at Sligo Nursing Home, you will provide professional nursing care that promotes resident wellbeing, independence, dignity, and safety. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, residents, and families to ensure excellent standards of care are maintained at all times.

This nursing role requires strong clinical judgement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver person-centred nursing care that respects the dignity, privacy, and individuality of each resident.
  • Act as a Named Nurse and maintain accurate resident documentation and care plans.
  • Build supportive relationships with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort during challenging or bereavement situations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Mowlam Healthcare policies and nursing standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date nursing records in line with legislation and internal procedures.
  • Safeguard the administration, storage, and control of medications in accordance with policy.
  • Participate in HIQA inspections and maintain awareness of regulatory standards.
  • Manage resident admissions and ensure all required documentation is completed correctly.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals regarding resident discharge planning and continuity of care.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • First level nursing registration qualification.
  • Registered on the NMBI live register.
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high standards of care.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards.
  • Flexibility and adaptability within a nursing home environment.
