Job Overview
The successful candidate will work as part of the General Acute Services nursing team at University Hospital Waterford, supporting the delivery of high standards of nursing care across inpatient and clinical care settings. Nurses appointed through this supplementary campaign will play a vital role in supporting patient recovery, promoting safety, and contributing to multidisciplinary healthcare delivery.
This campaign may create a supplementary panel from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full-time or part-time duration may be filled.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients within General Acute Services
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and clinical progress
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Support patient safety, dignity, and evidence-based clinical practices
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies
- Maintain accurate patient records and nursing documentation
- Participate in ward-based quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives
- Provide support, education, and reassurance to patients and families
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a busy acute hospital environment
- Commitment to patient-centred care and professional development
- Excellent teamwork and organisational abilities
- Flexibility to work across varying clinical settings and shift patterns
- Previous acute hospital experience is desirable
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with the HSE Staff Nurse Grade salary scale and relevant public sector pay agreements. This position offers competitive pay, access to public sector pension benefits, annual leave entitlements, structured training opportunities, and ongoing professional development support.
The contract type for this role is Permanent Wholetime, with additional opportunities for specified purpose and part-time appointments arising from the supplementary panel.
