Job Overview
The Addiction Counsellor (Helpline) will provide professional counselling and support services to individuals accessing addiction support through the CHO7 Helpline Bridge House service. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare environment focused on delivering compassionate, confidential, and recovery-oriented support services.
The role supports service users across the HSE Dublin and Midlands region, including Dublin South, Wicklow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Offaly, and Westmeath.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional addiction counselling and helpline support services.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions and recovery-focused guidance.
- Maintain accurate and confidential service user records.
- Support individuals experiencing addiction-related challenges and crises.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Participate in service development, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to safeguarding, risk assessment, and referral processes where appropriate.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and staff events as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification recognised for counselling or addiction services.
- Experience working within addiction, mental health, or community healthcare services is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and crisis management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of professional ethics, confidentiality, and safeguarding standards.
