Job Overview
The Radiographer Clinical Specialist will provide advanced clinical expertise across Emergency Department and General XRay services at St Dympna’s Hospital, Carlow. The role involves delivering specialist radiographic services, supporting service efficiency, maintaining clinical governance standards, and contributing to education, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
This opportunity is open only to employees of the HSE, TUSLA, Section 38 agencies, or statutory health agencies in line with WRC Agreement 161867.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced radiography services within Emergency Department and General XRay settings.
- Support the provision of safe, effective, and patient-focused imaging services.
- Provide clinical leadership and specialist expertise to radiography teams.
- Participate in quality assurance, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams across acute services.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, protocols, and professional guidelines.
- Assist in the education, mentoring, and development of radiography staff and students.
- Contribute to efficient workflow management and service delivery within diagnostic imaging.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Diagnostic Radiography.
- Registration with CORU or eligibility for registration.
- Significant post-qualification radiography experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in Emergency Department and General XRay imaging.
- Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
- Commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and patient safety.
- Leadership, mentoring, and service development experience are desirable.
