North West Credit Union is seeking a dedicated Member Service Representative to join its team in Sligo on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Job Overview

The Member Service Representative reports directly to the Senior Counter Official and plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of North West Credit Union. The successful candidate will act as a primary point of contact for both existing and prospective members, assisting with transactions, account services, loan applications, and member enquiries.

This fixed-term financial services opportunity in Sligo offers hands-on experience in a member-focused organisation committed to community banking, service excellence, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately handle cash transactions, reconcile balances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist members with account openings and ensure AML documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Support members with online account access and digital banking services.
  • Carry out daily operational procedures including start-of-day and end-of-day processes.
  • Process EFT payments, automatic member transactions, and foreign exchange requests.
  • Manage lending applications and respond to loan-related member enquiries.
  • Provide excellent customer service across counter, phone, email, and online channels.
  • Handle member complaints professionally and escalate where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Promote North West Credit Union products and services to existing and prospective members.
  • Support arrears management and payment-related member queries.
  • Participate in ongoing training and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in financial services, customer service, cashiering, or call centre environments is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • QFA qualification is desirable or willingness to work towards a qualification aligned with the Central Bank Minimum Competency Code (MCC).
  • Successful candidates must satisfy Central Bank Fitness & Probity standards.
  • Knowledge of AML, GDPR, and financial compliance procedures is advantageous.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary: €29,000 – €40,000 per year.
  • Job Type: Fixed-term contract.
  • Contract Duration: 12 months.
