Job Overview
As a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will provide frontline emergency nursing care within a high-volume Trauma Unit and acute hospital setting in Dublin City Centre. The role involves assessing, triaging, and treating patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and life-threatening conditions while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
This position is ideally suited to experienced emergency nurses who thrive in fast-paced environments and are committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care within a Major Trauma Centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department and Trauma Unit.
- Perform rapid patient assessments and triage using recognised triage systems.
- Provide resuscitation and trauma care for critically ill and injured patients.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams in a high-pressure environment.
- Monitor, evaluate, and document patient care accurately and efficiently.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations while prioritising patient safety.
- Support patient-centred care initiatives and maintain high professional standards.
- Participate in ongoing training, mentorship, and professional development programmes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of four years’ current clinical experience in an Emergency Department within a large acute hospital.
- Experience using Manchester Triage System (MTS) or Canadian Triage System.
- Demonstrated experience in trauma, resuscitation, and patient triage.
- Experience working within a Major Trauma Centre environment.
- Strong ability to work efficiently in high-volume, fast-paced emergency settings.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or currently undergoing registration.
- Successful completion of IELTS or OET where required for NMBI registration.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary ranging from €37,788 to €56,032 per annum depending on experience.
- Additional pay for shift differentials.
