Muiriosa Foundation is hiring a Residential Leader in Westmeath to join an innovative management team supporting people with intellectual disabilities across its Longford, Westmeath and Meath services. Based in the Mullingar offices, this permanent wholetime role offers the chance to drive sustainable change in practice and deliver meaningfully better outcomes for the individuals supported by Muiriosa.
About the Role
This Residential Leader post sits within a wider management team that is working in partnership with leadership experts to deliver lasting, person-centred change. The successful candidate will lead frontline teams, shape day-to-day practice, and help embed a culture focused on quality of life, autonomy and positive outcomes for the people Muiriosa supports. It is a role for a confident, compassionate manager who is ready to take ownership of service delivery and progress their career in social care leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop residential service teams across Longford, Westmeath and Meath, with a base in Mullingar.
- Drive positive change in practice in partnership with the wider management team and external leadership specialists.
- Champion person-centred care, ensuring services are tailored to the needs, rights and aspirations of each individual supported.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including staffing, rosters, supervision and quality assurance.
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, dignity, and continuous improvement in line with HIQA standards.
- Contribute to strategic and operational planning across the Longford/Westmeath/Meath services.
- Support, mentor and develop staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care.
Requirements
- A relevant professional qualification in social care, nursing, or a related discipline, meeting the eligibility criteria for the Social Care Manager 1 grade.
- CORU registration where applicable to the qualification held.
- Demonstrable experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, ideally in a residential setting.
- Proven leadership and people-management experience, with a track record of leading teams through change.
- Strong organisational, planning and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage families, multidisciplinary colleagues and external stakeholders.
- A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the Longford/Westmeath/Meath area.
Salary
€56,915 – €66,465 per annum (HSE Social Care Manager 1 scale, 7-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Pay is pro-rata for part-time or worksharing arrangements.
Location
The role is based in Muiriosa Foundation’s Mullingar offices in County Westmeath, with responsibility extending across services in Longford, Westmeath and Meath. Mullingar offers an excellent quality of life, with strong road and rail links to Dublin and the wider Midlands, making it an accessible and attractive base for senior social care professionals. The successful candidate will be central to shaping how residential services are delivered across the region, working directly alongside an experienced management team and front-line staff who make a tangible difference in people’s lives every day.
