A locum relief Staff Nurse job is available with Corlann South East in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse to join a leading Section 38 service provider and deliver high-quality, person-centred care to adults with intellectual disabilities in South Tipperary.

Role Overview

This locum relief post is offered on an if-and-when basis within the Enhanced Nurse Intellectual Disability Service operated by Corlann South East. The successful candidate will provide flexible nursing cover as required, supporting residential, respite and day service settings across the Cahir area. The role is graded at Staff Nurse — Intellectual Disability (Grade 213T) and is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in line with NMBI standards and organisational policies.
  • Support individuals with complex needs, including autism, dual diagnosis, and behaviours that challenge, using person-centred approaches.
  • Contribute to the development and review of individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to all relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and HSE/Corlann guidelines.
  • Promote the rights, dignity, and independence of the people supported by the service.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and mandatory training as required.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) as a Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse (RNID).
  • Ability to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and competencies required for the role.
  • Flexibility to work across service settings and hours as required on an if-and-when basis.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to person-centred care.

Salary and Contract

This is a locum relief (if-and-when) post. Salary is in line with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Grade 213T — (Staff Nurse) Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse: €37,788 – €54,412 per annum (13-point scale), plus Long Service Increments (LSIs) of €56,032 where applicable. Based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 February 2026. Actual pay will be calculated pro-rata to hours worked.

Location

The role is based in Cahir, Co. Tipperary, within the Corlann South East region. Corlann South East provides residential, day, respite, assessment, and clinical services to individuals with varying degrees of intellectual disability across South Tipperary, Kilkenny, Waterford, and Wexford. The Cahir area forms a key part of the South Tipperary community care footprint, with services supporting adults and children with complex needs including autism and dual diagnosis.
