Cork University Hospital is recruiting a Consultant Neuro-Radiologist to join its specialist radiology team on a permanent, wholetime basis. This is a senior clinical appointment offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality neuro-radiological services at one of Ireland’s leading acute university hospitals.

About the Role
This permanent wholetime post is based at Cork University Hospital, where the successful candidate will provide expert neuro-radiological services to support the hospital’s clinical teams. The Consultant Neuro-Radiologist will play a central role in the diagnosis and management of patients presenting with neurological and neurosurgical conditions, contributing to multidisciplinary teams and helping to shape the continued development of neuro-radiology services at the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive neuro-radiological service, including interpretation of advanced neuroimaging such as MRI, CT, and interventional neuro-radiology as appropriate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and provide timely specialist radiological opinions to clinical colleagues.
- Contribute to the development, governance, and quality improvement of the radiology department.
- Engage in teaching, training, and supervision of junior medical staff and radiology trainees.
- Participate in on-call and rostered duties as required in line with the consultant contract.
- Contribute to audit, research, and continuing professional development activities in line with professional obligations.
Requirements
- Registration as a specialist in Radiology on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland.
- Fellowship or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Radiology, with subspecialty training or demonstrable expertise in Neuro-Radiology.
- Candidates must be eligible to take up appointment under the terms of the relevant consultant contract.
Salary
Competitive pay, commensurate with the consultant grade and contract type applicable to this appointment.

Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest acute teaching hospital in Ireland outside of Dublin and the primary tertiary referral centre for the HSE South West region. Located in Cork city, CUH serves a catchment population of over one million people and is a centre of excellence for a wide range of specialist services, including neurosciences. The hospital is affiliated with University College Cork and maintains a strong commitment to clinical research and education. This post is based at CUH for 37 hours per week.
