Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise, in partnership with Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, Regional Hospital Mullingar, and Naas General Hospital, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 3 to provide senior nursing leadership across Theatre, Endoscopy, Minor Operations, and the Local Decontamination Unit. This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced peri-operative nurse ready to drive clinical excellence and service quality across four acute hospital sites in HSE Dublin and Midlands.
About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Manager 3 will provide professional and managerial leadership within Theatre, Endoscopy, Minor Operations, and the Local Decontamination Unit. The postholder will play a central role in maintaining safe, effective, and patient-centred surgical and endoscopy services while ensuring full compliance with national decontamination standards for reusable invasive medical devices (RIMDs) and endoscopes. This senior role demands both strategic vision and hands-on clinical credibility, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across a complex, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior nursing leadership and management across Theatre, Endoscopy, Minor Operations, and the Local Decontamination Unit across multiple hospital sites.
- Maintain and develop high standards of peri-operative nursing care and endoscopy nursing practice.
- Ensure compliance with national standards and guidance on the decontamination of RIMDs and endoscopes within the Local Decontamination Unit.
- Lead, support, and develop nursing and healthcare assistant staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and service efficiency.
- Contribute to quality assurance, risk management, and clinical governance frameworks.
- Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment, and budgets, in line with HSE policies and targets.
- Lead service development initiatives and support the implementation of evidence-based practice and relevant national guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Peri-Operative Nursing, alongside significant experience and knowledge in Endoscopy Nursing. A thorough understanding of national standards and guidance relating to the decontamination of RIMDs and endoscopes is essential. Candidates should meet the eligibility requirements for the Clinical Nurse Manager 3 grade as set out by the HSE, including current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the requisite post-registration nursing experience in the relevant clinical area.
Salary
€72,146 – €81,478 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 3 General scale, 6-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
