St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin is recruiting a Senior Occupational Therapist to join its health and social care team. This is a permanent, wholetime post within HSE Dublin and South East, offering an experienced OT the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred occupational therapy services in an acute hospital setting.
Role Overview
The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, intervention, and discharge planning to patients across relevant clinical areas at St Columcille’s Hospital. The postholder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to service development and supporting the delivery of evidence-based practice. The role carries supervisory responsibility and offers real scope to influence clinical standards and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and develop individualised intervention plans for patients.
- Deliver evidence-based OT interventions, including functional assessments, home assessments, and equipment prescription.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to integrated care planning and discharge coordination.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to basic grade occupational therapists and students on placement.
- Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols, policies, and service improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE documentation standards and CORU requirements.
- Liaise with community services, voluntary organisations, and statutory agencies to facilitate safe and timely discharge.
- Participate in relevant continuing professional development and contribute to department education activities.
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent recognised qualification) and current CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Relevant post-qualification experience in an acute or clinical setting.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Strong communication, organisational, and multidisciplinary team working skills.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland.
Salary
€65,197 – €76,767 per annum (HSE Occupational Therapist, Senior scale, 9-point scale). Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 (Department of Health Circular 2/2026). Placement on the scale will be in accordance with HSE pay and incremental credit policy.

St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown, Co Dublin is a model 2 acute hospital serving the south Dublin and north Wicklow catchment area. The hospital provides a range of medical, surgical, and rehabilitation services and is part of the HSE Dublin and South East health region. The post is based on-site at Loughlinstown.
