HSE Dublin and South East is recruiting for two permanent part-time Peer Support Worker vacancies with South Tipperary Mental Health Services in Clonmel. These roles offer an opportunity to use personal lived experience of mental health difficulties and recovery to support individuals in their recovery journeys and contribute to person-centred mental health services.
Role Overview
The Peer Support Worker role is based within South Tipperary Mental Health Services and focuses on supporting individuals through a recovery-oriented approach informed by lived experience. The successful candidates will work alongside service users and multidisciplinary colleagues, promoting hope, self-determination, meaningful participation and practical approaches to recovery and self-care.
There are currently two permanent part-time vacancies available in Clonmel:
- 0.6 WTE with the Community Residences Rehabilitation and Recovery Team, South Tipperary.
- 0.4 WTE with the Involvement Centre, Clonmel.
A panel may be formed from this campaign for Peer Support Worker vacancies, from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full-time or part-time duration may be filled across HSE Dublin and South East.
Key Responsibilities
- Use lived experience appropriately and purposefully to support individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Promote hope, recovery, self-determination and meaningful participation in personal recovery journeys.
- Support individuals to identify and use self-care frameworks and recovery-focused approaches.
- Develop supportive peer relationships based on respect, empathy and shared understanding.
- Contribute to recovery-oriented practice within mental health services and work collaboratively with relevant teams and services.
- Encourage service-user involvement and participation in decisions affecting recovery and service engagement.
Requirements
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience working with individuals with mental health needs, as relevant to the role.
- Demonstrate experience in implementing self-care frameworks and approaches in the context of mental health recovery.
- Have personal lived experience of mental health difficulties, including insight into the recovery process.
- Be able to use lived experience appropriately in a professional peer-support context.
- Demonstrate an understanding of recovery-oriented mental health practice and the value of peer support.
Salary
€36,812 – €46,145 per annum on the full-time HSE Peer Support Worker grade 6038 scale, a 9-point incremental scale based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Salary for these part-time positions will be paid on a pro-rata basis according to contracted hours.
Location
The two current permanent part-time vacancies are based in Clonmel, County Tipperary, within South Tipperary Mental Health Services. One position is with the Community Residences Rehabilitation and Recovery Team and the second is with the Involvement Centre in Clonmel.
The wider campaign covers HSE Dublin and South East, including South Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow and part of South Dublin. A panel formed from this campaign may be used to fill suitable future vacancies across the health region.
