University Hospital Waterford is recruiting an Executive Chef for a permanent, full-time position within its catering service. This Executive Chef job in Waterford offers an experienced catering professional the opportunity to lead high-quality food service delivery in a busy acute hospital environment.

Role Overview

The Executive Chef will contribute to the effective management and delivery of catering services at University Hospital Waterford. The role requires strong leadership, operational oversight and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, safety and service across the hospital catering function.

A supplementary panel may be formed from this campaign for University Hospital Waterford. This panel may be used to fill current and future permanent and specified-purpose vacancies of full-time or part-time duration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the effective management and day-to-day operation of hospital catering services.
  • Lead and coordinate catering teams to maintain efficient, consistent and high-quality service delivery.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of food preparation, presentation, hygiene and safety.
  • Support menu planning, production control and the efficient use of catering resources.
  • Promote compliance with relevant food safety, infection prevention, health and safety, and organisational procedures.
  • Contribute to service improvement and the delivery of a professional catering service for patients, staff and other service users.

Salary

€54,494 – €57,499 per annum (HSE Chef, Executive grade 4211 scale, 12-point scale).

The salary range is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Incremental progression and starting salary arrangements are subject to applicable public service and HSE rules.

Location

This position is based at University Hospital Waterford in County Waterford, within the HSE Dublin and South East health region. The Executive Chef will work in a hospital catering environment where reliable, safe and high-quality food services make an important contribution to patient care and the daily operation of the hospital.

Contract Type

Permanent Wholetime.
