HSE Mid West Health Region is recruiting a Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery to provide senior strategic and professional leadership across health services in Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. This executive nursing and midwifery leadership role will contribute to regional service planning, governance, quality improvement and the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.

Role Overview
The Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery will provide senior professional leadership for nursing and midwifery across HSE Mid West Health Region. The post will support integrated regional planning, strengthen professional governance and help shape the development and delivery of high-quality services across the region.
Working at regional leadership level, the successful candidate will contribute to strategic decision-making and ensure that nursing and midwifery perspectives are embedded in service planning, workforce development, clinical governance and quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and professional leadership for nursing and midwifery services across HSE Mid West Health Region.
- Contribute to regional strategy, service planning and the development of integrated models of care.
- Promote strong professional governance, patient safety, quality improvement and evidence-informed practice.
- Support workforce planning, professional development and leadership capability across nursing and midwifery services.
- Work collaboratively with regional executives, clinical leaders and service managers to support effective service delivery.
- Champion person-centred care and the continuous improvement of patient and service-user outcomes.
- Provide senior nursing and midwifery advice to support regional priorities and organisational decision-making.
Requirements and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the eligibility, professional registration, experience and other requirements specified by the HSE for the Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery grade. Salary
€125,441 – €153,313 per annum (HSE Regional Director, Nursing & Midwifery scale, 6-point scale), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026.
Location
The role is based within HSE Mid West Health Region, with a regional remit supporting services across Limerick, Tipperary and Clare. The successful candidate will operate at senior leadership level within a diverse regional health system and will contribute to nursing and midwifery strategy, governance and service improvement across the region.
