The Office of the National Director, Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery is recruiting an Assistant National Director, Sustainable Infrastructure in Dublin. This senior HSE leadership opportunity will contribute to the strategic direction and delivery of sustainable health infrastructure and capital development across the health service.

Role Overview

There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available, with initial assignment to the Office of the National Director, Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery. The successful candidate will work at senior leadership level within Capital & Estates, supporting the development and delivery of sustainable infrastructure across the health service.

A panel may be formed from this campaign for Assistant National Director, Sustainable Infrastructure, Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery, Capital & Estates. This panel may be used to fill current and future permanent and specified-purpose vacancies of full-time or part-time duration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership in the development and implementation of sustainable infrastructure priorities across the health service.
  • Support strategic planning and delivery within Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery.
  • Contribute to the governance, oversight and advancement of major infrastructure and capital programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with national and regional stakeholders to support sustainable approaches to healthcare infrastructure.
  • Provide strategic advice and leadership to support organisational priorities and the effective delivery of capital and estates objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, programmes and initiatives that strengthen the sustainability and resilience of healthcare infrastructure.

Requirements and Qualifications

Salary

€123,645 – €150,752 per annum (HSE Assistant National Director (Support), grade code 0508, six-point scale).

This salary range is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. For any part-time appointment arising from the campaign panel, salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis according to contracted hours.

Location

The initial assignment is to the Office of the National Director, Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery. The successful candidate will be based, subject to agreement with the National Director – Capital, Capital & Estates, at one of the following Dublin offices:

  • Sir Patrick Duns, Lower Grand Canal Street, Dublin 2.
  • Swords Business Campus, Balheary Road, Swords, Co. Dublin.

The National Director, Strategic Health Infrastructure is open to engagement regarding the expected level of on-site attendance at the agreed base, taking account of the requirements of the role and the HSE Blended Working Policy.

The wider office of the National Director, Strategic Health Infrastructure and Capital Delivery has regional locations in Letterkenny, Sligo, Galway, Limerick, Tralee, Cork, Tullamore, Kilkenny, Swords, Cherry Orchard, Carrickmines and Kells, reflecting the national scope and organisational impact of the function.

Contract Type

There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available. A panel may also be formed to fill future permanent whole-time, permanent part-time, specified-purpose whole-time and specified-purpose part-time vacancies.
