The Health Service Executive (HSE) West and North West is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join Our Lady’s Hospital in Manorhamilton, County Leitrim. This is a permanent wholetime senior leadership position offering the opportunity to make a significant impact on healthcare delivery in the region.
About the Role
As Assistant Director of Nursing at Our Lady’s Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in nursing leadership and healthcare management across the facility. This position involves working closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure high-quality patient care, staff development, and operational excellence in a dynamic healthcare environment serving the Leitrim community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage nursing teams across multiple departments ensuring optimal patient care standards
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing in strategic planning and implementation of nursing policies
- Oversee staff recruitment, development, and performance management for nursing personnel
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Manage budgets and resources effectively to maintain high-quality healthcare services
- Champion quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices
- Represent nursing interests in multidisciplinary meetings and hospital committees
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with current registration with NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland)
- Minimum 5 years of senior nursing experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Proven experience in healthcare management and nursing administration
- Strong knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, and quality frameworks
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or related field
- Previous experience in Assistant Director or similar senior nursing leadership roles
- Experience working within HSE or Irish healthcare system
- Postgraduate qualifications in nursing leadership or healthcare management
