The Health Service Executive (HSE) is Ireland’s national health service, committed to delivering quality healthcare and mental health services across the country. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing Mental Health to join our Dublin and North East region, covering Dublin North, Louth, and Meath areas in a permanent wholetime position.
About the Role
This senior nursing leadership position offers the opportunity to shape mental health services delivery across both inpatient and community settings. As Assistant Director of Nursing Mental Health, you will play a crucial role in policy development, quality assurance, and service improvement within the HSE Dublin and North East health region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee nursing practice standards across mental health services in Dublin North, Louth, and Meath
- Develop, implement, and monitor mental health nursing policies and procedures
- Coordinate quality audit and assurance systems across inpatient and community mental health services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care delivery
- Provide clinical leadership and professional development for nursing staff
- Translate national mental health policies into actionable local service improvements
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practice guidelines
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration
- Registered Psychiatric Nurse qualification
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Mental Health, or related field
- Minimum 5 years senior nursing management experience in mental health services
- Demonstrated experience across both inpatient and community mental health settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in mental health nursing or healthcare management
- Experience in policy development and healthcare quality improvement
- Knowledge of HSE governance structures and mental health legislation
- Leadership and change management certification
- Experience with clinical audit and quality assurance systems
