Job Overview
The Assistant Director of Nursing will support the Director of Nursing in leading and managing nursing services across designated directorates. The post holder will ensure high standards of patient care, workforce planning, governance, and service development within Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across assigned nursing directorates.
- Support the Director of Nursing in workforce planning, rostering oversight, and resource allocation.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical governance standards.
- Promote patient safety, risk management, and evidence-based practice.
- Lead and mentor Clinical Nurse Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support service development and implementation of national HSE policies.
- Contribute to performance management, reporting, and service evaluation.
- Ensure effective communication across departments and with senior management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with NMBI.
- Significant senior nursing management experience in an acute, diverse hospital setting.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Nursing Management relevant to the role.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage change and service improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management or a related discipline (desirable).
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
This role is aligned to Director of Nursing 1 – Assistant (Grade Code 2910) under HSE consolidated pay scales.
