Tipperary University Hospital is recruiting a Cardiac Physiologist, Senior (Fiseolaí Cairdiach Sinsearach) on a permanent wholetime basis. Role Overview
The successful candidate will work as a Cardiac Physiologist, Senior within the Cardiology Department at Tipperary University Hospital, delivering a comprehensive range of cardiac diagnostic services to support clinical decision-making across cardiology, medicine, and related specialties. The post holder will report to the Chief Cardiac Physiologist and play a key role in maintaining diagnostic quality and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and report on a broad range of cardiac diagnostic investigations, including echocardiography, ECG, exercise stress testing, ambulatory ECG/Holter monitoring, and pacemaker/device checks
- Demonstrate and apply depth and breadth of experience across cardiac diagnostics relevant to a senior level post
- Hold accreditation, or be actively working towards accreditation, in echocardiography
- Contribute to the supervision, training, and clinical support of junior cardiac physiology staff and students
- Maintain quality assurance, equipment calibration, and patient safety standards within the cardiac diagnostics service
- Liaise with consultant cardiologists, physicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team on diagnostic findings and care pathways
- Participate in service development, audit, and continuous quality improvement initiatives within the department
Requirements and Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in Cardiac Physiology, Clinical Measurement Science, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Significant post-qualification clinical experience demonstrating depth and breadth across the full range of cardiac diagnostic modalities
- Accreditation, or evidence of working towards accreditation, in echocardiography (e.g. BSE or equivalent)
- Strong clinical, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary hospital team
- Eligibility to work in the State and satisfactory Garda vetting
Salary
€55,665 – €64,385 per annum (HSE Cardiac Physiologist, Senior scale, grade 3003, 8-point scale, effective 1 June 2026, based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales under DoH Circular 2/2026). Long Service Increments of €68,634 and €72,890 apply after 3 and 6 years respectively spent on the maximum of the scale.

This post is based at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, E91 VY40, serving County Tipperary (South) and the wider catchment area. The role sits within HSE Dublin and South East, a recruitment region spanning Tipperary South, Waterford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Wicklow, and part of South Dublin, offering exposure to a broad and varied cardiac patient population within a busy acute hospital setting.
