Job Overview
The Care Assistant Intellectual Disability role involves supporting residents with daily living activities, personal care, social inclusion, and community participation. The position is based at St. Raphael’s Centre, Youghal, County Cork, under HSE South West: Kerry and Cork.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care and support to individuals with intellectual disabilities
- Assist service users with personal care and daily living activities
- Promote independence, dignity, and social inclusion
- Support residents in recreational, educational, and community-based activities
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with HSE policies
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Assist in maintaining a safe and supportive care environment
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and infection prevention procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant healthcare or social care qualification
- Experience working in disability services or healthcare settings is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Commitment to person-centred care practices
- Understanding of intellectual disability support needs
- Flexibility to work across service requirements
- Eligibility to work in Ireland
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
Salary will be aligned with the HSE Care Assistant (Disability Services) Grade 6482 pay scale. This is a permanent whole-time position offering long-term career stability and access to public sector employment benefits.
