About the Role
As a Care Assistant, you’ll provide essential support to people with intellectual disabilities across Limerick City, Doon, and Foynes locations. This key-working role combines personal care responsibilities with community integration support, helping individuals achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care including meals, hygiene, and physical well-being support
- Assist individuals with implementing their Individual Plans and achieving personal outcomes
- Support community participation and social integration activities
- Maintain detailed care records and progress documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care delivery
- Facilitate family and friend connections for people supported
- Promote independence and ordinary life experiences in community settings
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Minimum QQI Level 5 qualification in appropriate or relevant field
- Full manual driving license valid for Irish roads
- Positive attitude toward supporting people with intellectual disabilities
- Commitment to person-centered care approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in disability or care services
- Knowledge of intellectual disability support best practices
- Understanding of community integration principles
- Flexible approach to shift work including days and nights
