The Cheshire Foundation in Ireland is a leading provider of support services for people with disabilities, empowering individuals to live independently and participate fully in their communities. We are seeking a compassionate Care Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Gorey, Wexford. This permanent part-time position offers 28 hours per week with opportunities to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
About the Role
As a Care Support Worker with The Cheshire Foundation, you will provide person-centered care and support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities. You will work collaboratively with service users, their families, and our multidisciplinary team to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance including mobility support, personal hygiene, and medication administration
- Support service users with daily living activities such as meal preparation, household tasks, and community access
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of care provided and service user progress
- Promote independence and encourage service users to develop life skills and social connections
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding procedures
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent qualification preferred
- Previous experience in care support, disability services, or healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with diverse populations
- Physical fitness to assist with mobility and personal care tasks
- Full clean driving license (preferred for community access support)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with people with intellectual or physical disabilities
- Training in manual handling, safeguarding, and medication administration
- Understanding of person-centered care principles and disability rights
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and some evening hours
