Job Overview
Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise is seeking an experienced and motivated Catering Officer II to lead the day-to-day management of its Catering Department. This permanent HSE role offers the opportunity to ensure high-quality meal provision while maintaining full compliance with nutrition, hydration, and food safety standards.
The Catering Officer II plays a key role in supporting patient care through effective catering services aligned with HIQA and HACCP requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the Catering Department.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and served according to schedule.
- Maintain compliance with nutritional and dietetic control guidelines.
- Ensure full adherence to HIQA standards regarding nutrition and hydration.
- Oversee HACCP implementation and food safety compliance.
- Supervise and support catering staff to deliver high service standards.
- Maintain quality assurance and regulatory compliance across catering services.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant catering or hospitality management qualification.
- Experience managing catering services, preferably within healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Understanding of HIQA standards relating to nutrition and hydration.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities.

Salary is aligned with the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales for Catering Officer – Grade II (4001), effective 1 August 2025 .
