The Clinical Midwife Manager 3 Galway opportunity at Galway University Hospital offers a senior leadership role within the Labour Ward. This permanent wholetime post is ideal for an experienced midwife with strong clinical governance and management expertise.

As Clinical Midwife Manager 3, you will play a critical role in leading midwifery services, ensuring safe, high-quality maternity care, and driving continuous service improvement within a busy acute hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership within the Labour Ward.
  • Ensure the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality assurance.
  • Lead, mentor, and support midwifery staff to deliver evidence-based maternity care.
  • Oversee workforce planning, rostering, and resource management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
  • Drive service development initiatives aligned with national maternity strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with HSE policies, HIQA standards, and professional regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife with active registration on the Midwives Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Significant depth and breadth of midwifery experience relevant to a Clinical Midwife Manager 3 role.
  • Demonstrated significant clinical and/or managerial experience.
  • Extensive Labour Ward experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Proven leadership, organisational, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and team management capabilities.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Grade: Clinical Midwife Manager 3 (Grade Code 2133).
  • Salary Scale (1 August 2025): €70,725 – €79,872 per annum (6-point scale).
