Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (Bainisteoir Altraí Cliniciúla 1) to provide clinical leadership and management within its Stroke and Geriatric services. This is a permanent, wholetime post open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 will provide direct clinical and managerial oversight within an acute hospital setting, supporting the delivery of high-quality nursing care to stroke and older-person patient populations. The successful candidate will work within the HSE Dublin and North East region and will be expected to demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in Stroke and/or Geriatric nursing in an acute hospital environment.

- Provide clinical leadership and day-to-day management of nursing staff within the assigned ward or unit.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, person-centred nursing care in line with professional standards and HSE guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain care quality, escalating concerns through appropriate channels.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Support the professional development of nursing and support staff through supervision, mentorship, and performance management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning processes for stroke and geriatric patients.
- Manage rostering, staffing levels, and resource allocation within the unit.
- Liaise with the Director of Nursing and senior management regarding service delivery and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements

- Be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Have at least five years of post-registration nursing experience, of which a minimum of two years must be in management or a role with significant management responsibilities.
- Demonstrate depth and breadth of Stroke and/or Geriatric nursing experience in an acute hospital setting (post-specific requirement).
- Demonstrate strong clinical leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Have the ability to manage and develop nursing teams in a dynamic acute care environment.
Salary
€57,780 – €68,046 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 1 scale, grade 2127, 8-point scale). Salary is based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 per Department of Health Circular 2/2026.
