Job Overview

Children’s Health Ireland is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Manager 2 – Shift Leader – Emergency Department to join its dynamic Emergency Department team in Dublin South. This permanent leadership role offers an excellent opportunity to shape patient care delivery, support nursing teams, and drive clinical excellence in a fast-paced paediatric environment.

As a CNM2 Shift Leader, you will play a central role in ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred emergency care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts in the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure safe staffing levels and effective resource allocation.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care in line with national and organisational policies.
  • Support, mentor and supervise nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor patient flow and coordinate care to optimise service efficiency.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and risk management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA standards and professional guidelines.
  • Participate in staff development, training and performance management processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration on the NMBI register.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with significant Emergency Department experience.
  • Previous leadership or management experience at CNM1 or equivalent level desirable.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in acute and emergency care.
  • Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

Salary is aligned with the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade Code 2119) scale under the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (1 August 2025 revision) .

Current annual salary scale (effective 1 August 2025):

  • €61,463 – €77,666 (LSI applicable)

This role is based in Dublin South within the HSE Dublin and Midlands health region. Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) is a publicly funded Section 38 organisation delivering paediatric services across Ireland.
