The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager 2 for a specialized GP Liaison role in the Emergency Department at Wexford General Hospital. About the Role
Join our dynamic Emergency Department team as Clinical Nurse Manager 2 GP Liaison, where you’ll play a pivotal role in service planning, coordinating, and managing clinical activities and resources. This position combines clinical leadership with strategic communication between hospital services and primary care providers, ensuring seamless patient care transitions and optimal healthcare outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical and management activities within the Emergency Department to deliver agreed Key Performance Indicators
- Serve as primary point of contact for GPs regarding clinical queries and patient referrals to Emergency Department
- Manage staffing, staff development, and resource allocation to maximize team potential and service delivery
- Facilitate clear communication between hospital services and primary care providers for enhanced patient care
- Coordinate post-discharge patient follow-up and guidance for patients who did not wait or left against medical advice
- Provide professional clinical leadership and practice development within the emergency healthcare setting
- Support quality assurance initiatives and facilitate communication across multidisciplinary teams
Required Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Minimum 7 years post-registration nursing experience with significant emergency department experience
- Previous clinical management or leadership experience in acute healthcare settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for GP liaison responsibilities
- Demonstrated ability in service planning, resource management, and staff development
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing or Healthcare Management
- Experience in GP liaison or primary care interface roles
- Knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, and quality frameworks
- Leadership training or management development certification
- Experience with clinical governance and performance indicator management
