Mayo University Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Mayo University Hospital for the Home First Elderly Assessment service within Emergency & Acute Medicine. This leadership role focuses on frailty assessment and care coordination for patients aged 75 and over presenting to the emergency and acute floor.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to contribute to improved patient pathways, enhanced multidisciplinary collaboration, and quality outcomes for older persons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership within the Home First Elderly Assessment service.
  • Coordinate and oversee frailty assessments for patients aged 75+ presenting to emergency and acute settings.
  • Support multidisciplinary team collaboration to optimise patient flow and discharge planning.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality care delivery.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff within the service.
  • Contribute to service development, audit, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered General Nurse with active registration on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of post-registration nursing experience relevant to the role.
  • Significant nurse management experience within emergency and acute floor settings.
  • Proven experience managing patients presenting with frailty issues aged 75 and over.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Salary, Benefits & Working Hours

  • Salary aligned with the HSE Clinical Nurse Manager 2 salary scale (Grade Code 2119).
