Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 PICU Dublin role offers an exciting leadership opportunity within the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Health Ireland. This specified purpose part-time position involves leading nursing teams, ensuring high standards of patient care, and supporting clinical excellence in a fast-paced, specialist environment.
This role is open to both HSE and non-HSE applicants and is advertised under Section 38. The successful candidate will act as shift leader, providing professional, clinical, and managerial leadership within PICU.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and operational management during assigned shifts within PICU.
- Ensure safe, evidence-based nursing care for critically ill paediatric patients.
- Supervise, support, and mentor nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members.
- Coordinate patient flow, staffing allocation, and resource management.
- Maintain compliance with HIQA standards, hospital policies, and professional guidelines.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality improvement, and patient-centred care.
- Participate in audit, risk management, and service development initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse with current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, with significant experience in paediatric critical care or intensive care nursing.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience at CNM1 level or equivalent.
- Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Salary scale: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Grade Code 2119) €62,078 – €78,443 (LSI) per annum (pro-rata for part-time), effective from 1 February 2026.
- Salary aligned with Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales (February 2026 revision).
