Galway University Hospitals are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager II to join St Nicholas Ward within HSE West and North West. This leadership role offers the opportunity to guide surgical nursing teams in Vascular and Plastic Surgery while ensuring high standards of patient-centred care in a dynamic acute hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and professional leadership to nursing and healthcare staff within St Nicholas Ward.
- Oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality care in Surgical Nursing, including Vascular and Plastic Surgery services.
- Manage staffing, rosters, and workforce planning in line with service needs.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, clinical governance standards, and best practice guidelines.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and support audit and risk management processes.
- Promote multidisciplinary collaboration to optimise patient outcomes.
- Support staff development, mentorship, and performance management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registered as a General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Significant post-registration nursing experience in Surgical Nursing.
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of experience in Vascular and/or Plastic Surgery nursing.
- Previous management or supervisory experience at CNM1 level or equivalent.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage change and support service development.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (Code 2119).
- Salary Scale (1 August 2025): €61,463 – €77,666 (LSI applicable)
- Contract Type: Specified Purpose, Wholetime.
