Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) will provide specialist nursing expertise within the mental health service, supporting high-quality, person-centred care and contributing to the development of effective clinical practice. The role offers an opportunity to work within HSE Mid West services serving communities across Limerick and the wider Mid West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist mental health nursing expertise within the relevant service area.
- Support the delivery of safe, evidence-informed and person-centred care.
- Contribute to clinical leadership, service improvement and the development of nursing practice.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, service users, families and relevant support networks.
- Promote continuity of care and effective communication across services and care settings.
- Support professional development and the sharing of specialist knowledge within the nursing team.
Requirements and Qualifications

Salary
€62,699 – €76,921 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) scale, 10-point standard scale, plus an LSI of €79,227 where applicable), based on the HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026. Salary for part-time appointments is paid pro rata according to contracted hours.
Location
The position is based in Limerick within HSE Mid West. The wider health region includes Limerick, North Tipperary and Clare, and the successful candidate will contribute to specialist mental health nursing services within the regional service structure.
