HSE Dublin and Midlands is recruiting Clinical Nurse Specialists in Mental Health (Grade 2625) to fill several permanent, full-time posts across adult and CAMHS services in the Dublin and Midlands region. Posts are open to all applicants (HSE and non-HSE) under competition reference DML942026.
Role Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) provides specialist nursing care and clinical leadership within mental health services across the Dublin and Midlands Health Region. Posts are available across adult community mental health teams and CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), including Linn Dara CAMHS, Kildare/West Wicklow Mental Health Services, and Tallaght Adult Mental Health Services. The CNS role is a key specialist position, combining advanced clinical practice, patient advocacy, audit, research, and education within the multidisciplinary team.
A panel may be formed from this campaign for HSE Dublin and Midlands, from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialist, evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, and intervention to service users with complex mental health needs
- Act as a specialist clinical resource and support to nursing colleagues, the multidisciplinary team, and service users and their families
- Lead on clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of best practice guidelines within the specialist area
- Contribute to the education and professional development of nursing staff and students within the service
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with NMBI standards and HSE policies
- Liaise with community, primary care, and acute service providers to facilitate integrated, person-centred care pathways
- Participate in service planning and development within the mental health team and contribute to the broader strategic objectives of the HSE Dublin and Midlands Mental Health Service
- Engage in research and evidence-based practice relevant to the specialist area
Requirements and Qualifications

- Be registered in the Psychiatric Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be entitled to be so registered
- Hold a relevant post-registration qualification in mental health nursing or an approved equivalent at Level 8 or above on the National Framework of Qualifications
- Have a minimum of one year post-registration experience in the specialist area (or a related area) within the last five years
- Have the clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
- Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post
- Candidates for CAMHS posts may be required to demonstrate specific experience and/or qualifications relevant to child and adolescent mental health
Salary
€62,699 – €79,227 per annum (HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) scale, Grade 2625, 11-point scale, based on HSE Consolidated Salary Scales effective 1 June 2026 per DoH Circular 2/2026). Long Service Increments (LSIs) apply beyond the standard scale maximum. Salary is based on relevant experience at appointment. New entrants to the public service are appointed at the minimum point of the scale.

Posts are located across the HSE Dublin and Midlands Health Region, covering adult community mental health teams and CAMHS services in counties Westmeath, Wicklow, Offaly, Longford, Laois, Kildare, and Dublin South. Services include Linn Dara CAMHS, Kildare/West Wicklow Mental Health Services, and Tallaght Adult Mental Health Services. The region spans both urban and rural communities, offering a varied and stimulating clinical environment within a large, well-resourced HSE health area.
