Clinical Nurse Specialist Mental Health Galway

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Mental Health Galway role offers an exciting opportunity to provide specialist care within the Rehabilitation & Recovery Team in Woodview, Merlin Park. This permanent whole-time post plays a vital role in supporting adults experiencing complex mental health needs across Galway Roscommon Mental Health Services.

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, patient advocacy, education, audit and research support while contributing to high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist clinical leadership in General Adult Rehabilitation and Recovery mental health services.
  • Deliver evidence-based care across a wide range of mental health disorders and dysfunctions.
  • Act as patient/client advocate within multidisciplinary settings.
  • Support education and training initiatives for nursing and healthcare staff.
  • Contribute to audit, research and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Provide expert consultation within and across mental health service settings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support recovery-oriented care pathways.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered as a Psychiatric Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Demonstrated professional knowledge and clinical experience across a wide range of mental health disorders.
  • Experience aligned with the Clinical Nurse Specialist core concepts: clinical focus, advocacy, education and training, audit and research, and consultancy.
  • Formally apply for entry onto the Interim ONMSD CNS database (until transferred to permanent location).
  • Strong communication, leadership and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

  • Salary in line with HSE Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) Grade 2625 pay scale (Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, effective 1 August 2025).

A panel may be formed to fill current and future permanent or specified purpose vacancies (full-time or part-time) within Galway Roscommon Mental Health Services.
