Job Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist – Youth Drug and Alcohol YoDA Service position involves delivering specialist mental health nursing care and clinical expertise within Addiction Services. The role supports young people experiencing substance misuse issues while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, community services, and families.

Based within Tymon/Kilnamanagh Primary Care Centre in Tallaght, the successful candidate will contribute to the continued development of youth-focused addiction and mental health services across HSE Dublin and Midlands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist mental health nursing assessment, intervention, and support to young people accessing the YoDA Service
  • Deliver evidence-based addiction and mental health care within community and primary care settings
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised care plans
  • Support early intervention and prevention initiatives for youth drug and alcohol misuse
  • Promote best practice standards in youth addiction and mental health nursing
  • Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement activities

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification or specialist experience in mental health or addiction services
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people experiencing substance misuse or mental health challenges
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and case management skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare environments
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment approaches, safeguarding, and youth mental health services
  • Commitment to person-centred care and recovery-focused practice
