University Hospital Kerry is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in Hand Therapy to join its specialist team in Tralee. This permanent wholetime opportunity offers an experienced therapist the chance to lead, develop, and deliver advanced hand therapy services within a busy acute hospital setting in HSE South West.
This Clinical Specialist Hand Therapist Kerry role is ideal for an Occupational Therapist with significant experience in upper limb rehabilitation who is ready to take on a leadership and service development position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced clinical assessment and treatment in hand and upper limb rehabilitation.
- Lead and develop specialist hand therapy services within University Hospital Kerry.
- Work collaboratively with orthopaedic consultants, multidisciplinary teams, and surgical services.
- Support service planning, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide clinical guidance to Occupational Therapy colleagues and students.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE policies and professional standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and research activities relevant to hand therapy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Registration as an Occupational Therapist with CORU.
- Significant postgraduate experience in hand therapy and upper limb rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise at specialist level.
- Experience working within acute hospital or orthopaedic settings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous service improvement.
Salary, Benefits & Working Hours
- Grade: Occupational Therapist – Clinical Specialist (Grade Code 3824).
- Contract Type: Permanent Wholetime.
- Salary: In line with HSE consolidated pay scales for Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapists (effective 1 August 2025).
