Job Overview

This Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist role in Dublin North provides strategic clinical leadership across community mental health services. You will play a central role in delivering patient-focused psychiatric care, supporting multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to service innovation within Mental Health Services Dublin North City.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary mental health teams across community services
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans aligned with best practice standards
  • Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives
  • Supervise and mentor non-consultant hospital doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Engage in audit, research, and continuous professional development activities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance integrated mental health service delivery

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Full registration as a specialist in Psychiatry with the Irish Medical Council
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Division (Psychiatry) or eligibility for same
  • Extensive experience in General Adult Psychiatry at consultant level or equivalent
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and clinical excellence
  • Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives is desirable
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland
